ATP Points for Talking Travel
ATP members are reminded that they can earn points for Talking Travel. If you attend the training session and the ABTA Today Live session you can earn two points. If you only attend one of these components you can obtain a point for the one you attended. Talking Travel is ABTA’s new series of road shows. This is the second time key members of the ABTA Team have travelled around the country meeting members and updating them on what is happening at ABTA and in the industry. Attendance for ABTA members is free and details can be found at talking travel.

Development of Travel & Tourism Diplomas
The new 14 -19 Diplomas in Travel & Tourism are due to be launched in some schools and colleges from September 2010 and rolled out nationally from 2013. These diplomas will provide a new route that will run in parallel with GCSE/GCE ‘A’ level and apprenticeships. The diplomas are designed to appeal to young people who wish to stay in full-time education and will offer a blend of high quality and applied learning. Students will be able to progress to employment or university.
|
People1st (the Sector Skills Council for Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism) and GoSkills (the Sector Skills Council for Passenger Transport) are leading on the development of the Travel and Tourism Diplomas. They have set up the Travel & Tourism Diploma Development Partnership (DDP) which will take responsibility for developing the content of the Diplomas. Employers operating within these sectors will be consulted on their needs and requirements, together with schools, universities, colleges, awarding bodies and training providers. The content and approach will be based on these findings, prioritising the skills needs of the industry.
